Class Descriptions

PLEASE NOTE: Class schedules change seasonally and are updated frequently. Not all classes are offered at all times. Be sure to check the weekly schedules for currently available classes.

Body Attack
BodyAttack®: The sports-inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina. This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises. Dynamic instructors and powerful music motivate everyone toward their fitness goals-from the weekend athlete to the hard-core competitor! All levels welcome-low impact options will be shown.

The meaning of “Namaste”

The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. “Nama” means bow, “as” means I, and “te” means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means “bow me you” or “I bow to you.” For a teacher and student, Namaste allows two individuals to come together energetically to a place of connection, free from the bonds of ego-connection. The teacher initiates Namaste as a symbol of gratitude and respect toward her students and in return invites the students to connect to the truth that we are all one when we live from the heart.

Advanced Vinyasa Yoga
This vinyasa class is geared towards more dedicated practitioners and will include advanced seated postures, arm balances, back bends, inversions and breath work.

Alignment Yoga
This class allows students to calm the mind and nurture the soul while aligning the body with suitable yoga poses to build balance and strength. Breath work is strongly emphasized and relaxation is given. An optional head massage provided by the instructor at the end to restore the body back to mindfulness.

Capital Barre
Capital Barre is a full body workout that will help you gain strength and flexibility while promoting mindfulness of alignment. Your core, glutes and thighs will work in a way that can not be achieved in other workouts and your arms will be strengthened as you skillfully craft your port de bras. Get ready to dance!

Forrest Yoga
Created and named for Ana T. Forrest, this style is physically intense and encourages deep internal focus. This class will include a series of standing postures, abdominal work and heat developed through poses sustained for longer periods of time. It will challenge you on a number of levels and will encourage you to break through mental and physical barriers.

Happy Hour Power Flow
Move you from your week into your weekend with joy and focus. This Power Flow class will create space for laughter in your heart, steadiness in your body, and optimism in your mind. Bring your energy & playful spirit! After all, it is your happy hour.

Power Core 20
Exclusive to Capital Fitness! A 20 minute class that will provide a core-focused practice, re-energizing your mind and body. Power Core 20 incorporates flowing sequences that will work to strengthen abdominal muscles and improve power and endurance within yoga poses and inversions.

Power-Flow Yoga
Looking to sweat? Then this class is for you! Power Flow will challenge, strengthen and cleanse you through fast paced standing sequences, sustained standing poses, balance poses, core work and relaxation. Get ready to have fun in this upbeat and challenging class!

Slow Flow Restorative Yoga
Relax, renew and restore yourself with this calming practice. Each class will include gentle flowing movement, supported postures for deep opening and a luxurious savasana. Come to dissolve tension and reset energy levels. A great way to end your day!

Sunrise Yoga
A vinyasa class that will allow you to flow into your day with energy and awareness of mind and body.

Sunset Yoga
A vinyasa class that invites you to finish your weekend feeling relaxed and prepared to face any challenges the next week may bring. This practice will provide you with a balanced body and a calm mind.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
The word vinyasa literally means ‘to place in a special way’. However, it is more commonly used to describe a fluid style of yoga. In this sense, vinyasa refers to traditional hatha yoga poses tied together in a flow linked with breath. At Capital Fitness Yoga, our teachers bring their own unique flavor and sequencing to each vinyasa class. Classes will include some combination of: meditation, breath work, sun salutations, standing poses, back bends, seated poses, inversions and relaxation. Come explore the many styles of our teaching community!

Weekend Warrior Yoga
A Forrest style class that reinforces the mind/body connection and challenges you to sweat out any negative energy from your work week and prepare to tackle the weekend!

Yoga Basics
New to yoga or looking for a class based in the fundamentals? In Yoga Basics, you will develop a solid foundation within your practice through detailed cueing, prop usage and hands on adjustments from the instructor. A great place to start!
